i've had flash and learnt up to where i am in about 3 weeks... i dont think its my standard either! i thought u were the flash master sirkent?! :P

I know a lot about Flash, yes, but you're asking me to model and create a 3d animation, in a 3D program - That I do not know a lot about!!

but effectively, surely every 3D animation can be done in 2D because everything on a computer is 2D anyway... ?

You're missing the point.
Sure, you could draw it. Off you go, I'll let you do that. But my drawing skills certainly aren't up to drawing hundreds of frames of a page in a book turning - nor do I have the patience.
To do this effectively you *would* need a 3D program.

drats.. Wish I had read this earlier. I just formatted the hard drive and I had one on it. Grrr.. Sorry bud. By the way, do yall know where I can get a new version of Flash MX? My disc rotted. It sux!
