Help - Flash overlay (Errm I think thats what it's called)
Hi.
I have a problem with a design I am trying to acheive. 1. I have built a basic html page using tables in dream weaver. I have a section about 500 wide by 400 high and its plain white with no text just empty. I want to be able to have a flash window float there constantly. ie i click a button in my nav and the flash window changes but not the html page reload or load another page. The same page but new flash windows each time. I have Flash MX 2004 but have no idea where to start. 2. Also in one of the lots of "Flash pages" i am going to have a string of urls when clicked they should open to replace the flash window like when clicking when the target = _self. 3. How can I get it so that when the window changes content it is animated like one of those futuristic pda type things where a glass panel slides out of a gadget on the left and the text or what ever appears on the glass back.. like in those sci fi films where they pull out the screen from a gadget and talk to their forces or what ever. The urls I will have look like this <<Previous 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Next>> Can anyone help with any solution to this please.. I am desperately stuck! Thanks.. First Time Help Poster All help greatly received |

lol? okay i think i speak for most of us when i say.. what? i dont really see what you are trying to achieve. Could you maybe show us a link of someting you want it to be like? if you just want the flash the change and not the html to change all you would have to do is not apply any getURL functions to the buttons.
i think a link though to an example would be a much better explanation than the sci fi thing. :P |

I'm not sure I understant entirely either.
1. If you're trying to float Flash on a div layer, above other content - then don't. It's not cross-browser compatible and is generally buggy in anything other than IE - as well as being difficult to set up. 2. I don't understand your second point at all, please explain in more detail. 3. You want some sort of futuristic glass pda thingy? Well unless you're quite experienced with Photoshop I'd say you're out of luck - it's not something that's easy to do or to teach. |

Hmmm ok this is tricky to describe.
Problem 1 I have my index.html it is divided into 3 tables. (1) horizontal across the top for a banner 2 verticle tables.. one on the left for (2) nav section and one large square on the right for content (3) -----------------| 1 | -----------------| | | | | 2 | 3 | | | | | | | -----------------| In area 3 I want a flash window that has no frames title bars or anything.. ie window mode transparent to be able to see whats behind it on the html page. I want it so that when a nav button is pressed from area 2 (embeded flash buttons) just the flash window unloads its default starting (index page) content and loads a new content. so rather than opening a new html page.. the index remains but the flash window changes. But some of the flash pages themselves will have links in them for page 2 or more of the same category eg I click a link in my nav area and bring up a steam engines flash page.. but I have several pictures and pages on that subject.. I want to be able to move through the pages within that mini flash site via next and previous links to show page 1, 2 , 3 etc but whith the same rules applying... only the flash window must load and unload while the index.html remains the same no loading or refreshing. Kind of like a mini flash site within an html back drop. Problem 2 How to create my mini flash site in the form of a futuristic pda. I have paintshop and photoshop so I should be able to make a PDA design (he says, hopefully) My problem is getting it all to act right. The movement is required to look like the screen is opening sliding out of its source with the pda itself moving left while the screen expands out of the main body moving right. the text / content should already be on the pda screen as it expands out with the pda screen itself being of semi transparent design. (Kinda like when u pull out a roll of cling film or foil from its box thats what it reminds me of) I could really do with a few tutorials if anyone has any Hmm hopefully a little better explanation. http://www.flash-template-design.com...d=565&a_aid=15 Look at the window that has the picture of the two people on the bench.. see how that moves.. turn that on its side and thats the action movement and look i require. Now see the main window with the arrow buttons instead of them scrolling I want them to move to the next flash page but stay in that one screen. Also note there is no page reloading it is all contained within the flash. Combine all those elements into one single flash window or document.. shrink them and place it in a set area on a web page and bobs my uncle.. |

Ok, your problem is that you need to do ALL the flash tutorials you can find on the web. This is flash 101 and it's called Motion Tweening. Look up motion Tweening and find out how to do it on the web, There's SOOO many ways that you can do this that it's not something you can describe on a forum.
Also, more than likely that movement was done with Actionscript. Actionscript is the programming language used in Flash. Actionscript has a great advantage because it makes for a MUCH smaller file size and can accomplish Way more than just motion Tweening. As for the mini-flash on your web page, Just make the flash movie on each page where it loads up and can give your users a few interactive things to do. There is no need to split the navigation from the movie itself. |
