Hey Reeno,
Ok, By "Horizontal popup menu" you mean a pull-down menu, where you mouse over an item and items in that category drop down below? Like this? Get it here Dynamic drive has many free scripts like that, have a good browse around. |

Motion Guides are killing me
Never Mind- I searched the Flashkit Forums and I think I got it.
But I would like to know if this is as conceptually as hard as it appears. Following tutorials were useless and never seemed to work. If was on a higher floor I would have jumped by now. Are Motion Guides as hard as they seem? I have been screwing around with this for four hours, and that is not an exaggeration. I keep getting error message about layers with grouped and ungrouped objects. In spite of me trying every possible combination I can think of. I followed the example in the book exactly for at least a dozen times and it won’t work. I managed to get it to work once off the online tutor but I can not replicate that. This was fun until now and I could pull my hair out. This is what I am doing: 1) open new document 2) Create circle on layer 1 and group it 3) Click add motion guide 4) Highlight motion guide layer and draw erratic line 5) Add keyframe to motion guide 6) Click layer 1 and snap circle to start of line 7) Add keyframe layer 1 and go to it. Drag circle to end of line 8) Click on motion guide in middle and click Create motion tween 9) I get a dotted line and error” Motion Tweening will not occur on layers with ungrouped shapes or on layer with more than one group or symbol”. I doubt you guys can help since you almost have to be here. But I am about to lose my mind on this one. I have tried every combination I can think of and nothing works. |

Ok, "grouping" may well be the wrong thing here... I never do it.
You must make sure that whatever you want to motion guide is a SYMBOL. Try it with one object converted to a symbol and go from there. |

Thanks Sirkent,
The problem was the book was a little confusing. It took a paragraph to explain what needed a page. The book sounds very much like the tween is created in the guide layer. Once you understand the Guide Layer modifies an existing straight motion tween it is very easy. I was spending all that time following the book and it kept coming back to trying to create a motion tween in the Guide Layer. There are a lot of Posts over at Flashkit on this since apparently a lot of people were reading it the same way I was. I guess I have been pretty lucky. This was the first part, so far, that has slowed me down. |
