Hidding a layer?

Im working on my first ever flash webpage and im trying to make a button that hides a specific layer or a number of layers. Is there any way to go about this?

could you elaborate more?

cant tell if you wanna mask something or are you asking how do you navigate pages using buttons?

also you might wanna fix the properties of your mp3 player... move the box over because i think your trying to make it so it stays in that picture but try dragging it and youll see

Alright what I want to do is use button to navigate through the site. Just something that will close the current picture slideshow and open another one.

Also any idea How I could make my own picture shower (as in a picture slideshow with next and back buttons)

How do I go about making the player stationary?

thanks alot for replying

1.) you must right click on your buttons and click actions.
(heres step-by-step screenshots)

2.) Once that menu opens copy and paste this code into the white box
on (release) {
getURL("http://www.yoursitename.com", "_self");
}

and change "yoursitename" to your site name..

3.)for your mp3 player its kinda of hard to say b/c im not looking at the .fla but right click on it and go to actions. if you see something like this:

http://www.eggrollindustries.com/ss3.jpg

then highlight it all and delete it. Hope this helps.

Thanks alot for the quick replies

All I need to know now is how can I get a button to close a specific layer or scene and open up another one in its place?

For example on my site if I clicked on the home button it would close up the picture scroller section and open up something else?

heres the .fla file btw

mmm still not quite understanding you. is the thing your working on right now the home page? if it is i dont understand your question. If not that getURL should open up your page in the same browser no matter what link you click on. If thats not what you want are you wanting to make your entire site in flash?
