I would however suggest that you try the tutorials that come with flash and see how you get on with it before you buy a book. Of course a book is always a faster way to learn.

Actionscript is quite a different beast in flash. It's one thing to learn how to animate using an interface, but coding is more difficult. ActionScript for Flash MX is written by Colin Mook, a well known and respected Flash scripter. The book tailors for both the complete programming beginner and those accomplished with other languages.
