Need help with loading time....
Ok, here's the deal. I am going to be working with a band to design a site. They wanted a demo of what it would look like. so... I put together a sample site to show them what I could put on there. Well... heres my problem. www.haeglodesigns.com Look how long it takes to load!!!! Can you please tell me how I can put the video in another file and then load it. I have tried all kinds of sites searching for answers but none have been found. I am starting to think it's hopeless. Thanks for your time.
Ohh yeah.. If I can make it load faster, then I will definately be adding tons of more bells and whistles. It's just that the way it is now, it takes up too much space to add them and made loading times redicilously slow. Thanks again for the help! |

My, it does take a long time to load...
I know relativly nothing about Flash, but my first thoughts are: Have you used and compression in the movie? This would help a lot. What Mhz is the audio recorded at? Drop the Mhz, this will help. Is the audio in stereo? Make it mono, will nearly half the audio size. Just my $0.02 u2o |

Well the audio isn't the problem... It's actually a music video that's on the screen. I now have a guy that can convert any type of media into any other type flawlessly. He's awesome!! So.. I am getting a VHS recording of a band converted to web format. Then posting the video as the background for the website. It's going to look really, really good. We have already designed the site with those little pieces of sticky paper that you can cut and stick to your screen, and move and stick them again, lol. So.. we know what colors will stand out well and all. I can't wait. I think its going to be fun! Thanks for your post U2.. It did give me an idea

Why on earth do you have a whole Music video on the website?
WHY DO YOU THINK IT'S TAKING A WHILE TO LOAD?!!!!!!! Why would anyone want to visit the site to see that? If someone wants to see the video they would DOWNLOAD it!!!!!! Have you ever seen a site that FORCES you to download an entire music video??? It's SEVEN MEGS!!!! It took me 2 mins 30 seconds to download. I NEVER wait that long for a site to load. The solution is simple. Get rid of it. More importantly... All the site contains is a bio, which will fit into a space the size of a large thumbnail and a link to another site... Forgive me for thinking this a bit stupid? |

wow
you should at least use compression and maybe cut some parts of the video out. But true, its slow loading and if users want to download that video, there should be a link for them to download it and not forced to do it.. i wonder why you'ld put such multimedia on your site! |

Wow... I guess that makes me an idiot... lol. Like I said before Sirkent.. THe file was so large that I couldn't put hardly any Bells and whistles on it.. F.E.-pages and such. But.. I want to play a video on the page, I know it is possible to do. I guess I should use a smaller video??? The video I am using for them is only like 1 meg itself. IT has no sound to it, and i am loading the sound seperately. Guess this is the way to go with this other. THe video before posting it on the site was only 27 megs itself... Guess thats a sign of being too large.. Ohh well.. Thanks for taking the time to tell me how stupid I was
