Help - Flash
I have received this email from a lady I have recently designed a website for:
We are thinking of adding a short movie to the website, a very shortened version of our CD-Rom. The idea we have would be for still images with words floating across them like ‘stressed, no time, too much to plan’ ect and then music playing over the top which would just be a short tune linked to repeat so I wouldn’t take up too much space or time to download. We were thinking of using images from some of the weddings we have planned so we already have the material and the music is this something you could do? If yes what would the charge be? I know it would only be a rough estimate depending on the time it takes to do but just to give us an idea of the work involved. We would like the movie on the home page to play as a web page rather than through media player, is this possible? Can I have your feedback / advice please - I haven't a clue - if she was to go to a Flash Web Designer for the above - how much would they charge approximately. Thanks in advance Sarah x |

That all depends on the designer really... My charges are $200 Per Intro Then add up content, time, Graphics, music, sounds, etc, etc... But when you get someone as talented as Sirkent is, I would imagine about $500 -1,000. That would seem about right...

Well, as a Student I do charge less than you would expect. The most expensive intro I did was valued at $650, but as a rule they range from £200-£400 - Just because there can be a huge amount of time put into them. Selecting appropriate graphics and sound alone can take upwards of 5-6 hours at times.
But of course, I'm always happy to work to any budget. I've done small intros for anywhere from £50-200 as well. Judging from your description above, they have images and sound and have a very clear idea of what they want. I also assume that you have a colourscheme already in place. If so, then I would say most flash designers would charge you less than their standard charges. I certainly would. If you want more info, you can of course contact me. And errrm, thanks for the compliments Court Jester Oh and for a point of reference... I contacted 2advanced a few years ago, to find out how much they were charging back then. For a flash intro such as: http://www.2advanced.com/tsys/ they charged in the region of $5000! Now they charge upwards of $50,000 a site! |
