trouble updating within timeline
I'm trying to make some simple updates to text within my website but I've encountered a couple of problems and created another.
When I update the text - it only updates for so long during the time line before something else replaces it. I've made a couple of minute changes to the alignmen of pics, etc but they do the same thing. I looked for the correct movie file fom the html page but when I opened it up, it showed one layer with a green box. I could realy do with some help as flash just appears to be mental compared to HTML! www.brucescott.co.uk Cheers. Last edited by Daniel; Jan 8th, 2007 at 09:43. |

Re: trouble updating within timeline
When I open up the main swf file, change some text, export it, and test the flash movie, the text changes halfway through the timeline into something else.
If you look at the text at the top left, it appears half way through the timeline. It says Copyright 2007 then changes to copyright 6. Also the position of some of the pics changes slightly. I think the route of the problem is that there are three files that all work together and I don't fully understand why and also why there are three files. The index.html file contains file 1 movie exported from file 1.swf but when I open that in DreamWeaver, it's just one layer with a green box in it. File 3 has all the stuff in it but that's called something else. To confuse matters even more, when I test each file in DW, they all play the same movie! If I sound stupid it's probably because I am! Any help even just to fathom out what's going on would be more than gratefully recieved, Bruce. |

Re: trouble updating within timeline
Hi there, I definitely see your problem, especially with the copyright. It came in as 2007 then changed to 2006 & i suppose the same thing is happening with the texts & image position, they change later on in the timeline right?
We'll take the copyright text for example.... It appears to me the text is spread out into 2 different keyframes so all you need to do is change the texts in each keyframe, simple as that. I hope you understand that.. if not maybe i missed the question Last edited by dazzelworks; Jan 14th, 2007 at 19:09. |

Re: trouble updating within timeline
hi - i've done a little reading into keyframes and it makes perfect sense. I've updated the file and checked every layer - it's as though there's a hidden file or something - i just can't see the changes in the timeline displayed in the fla file opened in flash but the error shows up when i test the file!!
It's starting to get on my nerves now! Bruce |

Re: trouble updating within timeline
Ok what does the error say? That wasn't the original issue was it?
I thought the only issue was the change of texts & image position along the timeline? |

Re: trouble updating within timeline
Why don't you try focus on the copyright text to start with. Go to the start of your timeline & keep dragging the playhead until the 2007 changes to 2006, then you'll know where your problem lies in the frame

Re: trouble updating within timeline
Hi again - well I think this is where the problem lies. When I open the file in flash, there's all the layers, etc. I make all the changes and then test the file and it's as though it's pulling in info from another file or something. The copyright 2006 is nowhere to be seen in th efla file yet it shows up when I test it!

Re: trouble updating within timeline
It doesn't change to 2006 in teh timeline that's the problem. In the timeline, it looks fine!

Re: trouble updating within timeline
I've worked it out - there's a load, intro and main file! Just found them. I can see what the problem is now. Thanks for your help on this.

Re: trouble updating within timeline
No problem. I thought it was probably being loaded from an external swf & that's why you couldn't see it in your main movie... Glad you worked it out.
