Re: growing roots effect.

you could simply paint them and mask the growt. If they are growing fast this could work. Dont know if you want to make it more presice, sorry.

Re: growing roots effect.

hehehe...not too active in the flash forum anymore...lol, cause webforumz redoing its website, that keeps me kind of busy.

But yes, masking the "movie clip" will work, but Lassjus makes it sound so simple, which masking can be kind of hard...and more difficult if the image is not vector art...lol

Re: growing roots effect.

Vector graphics or geometric modeling is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and polygons to represent images in computer graphics. It is used by contrast to the term raster graphics, which is the representation of images as a collection of pixels (dots).

Vector art also never looses quality you can zoom in and it will never get pixilated...also it is great for animation...like a tree. But can be very difficult to build. You just open up flash and draw your object with out importing in anything, and it will be vector art!! But there are certain ways you can set up your flash file for drawing and animating vector art. If you would like info about that, or have any other questions please reply and I will get back to you as soon as possible!!

Note: The logo show here is vector art: http://www.JacobHaug.com/webforumz/Jacob.jpg

Re: growing roots effect.

i did the what your talking about here, what i did was put every leaf in its own movie clip and the stock in its movie clip and and adjusted the leaf movie clips place in the main movie clip's time line so that the leafs would grow after the stock reached that particular leaf, and so big leafs would start growing before the small ones. http://www.piattdesigns.com/old/plantgrow.html here is a sample of what i did. if you want to look at the fla i'll see if i can dig it up for you.

Re: growing roots effect.

hehehe...lol

For some reason I thought so, but I still must say it would look much better if you used vector art, and probably would of been easier to animate...lol

Re: growing roots effect.

if i spent a little more time on it i think it would look fine. But doing it in vector doesn't make much sense to me, when you want the finished product to look real. Besides, masking isn't really difficult at all.

Re: growing roots effect.

I am taking it that you don't do allot of masking...or animation, because making masking effetely can be very hard for a beginner to do. Also drawing your images within vector art does NOT make the art look like a cartoon or look unlike the real product...in fact most professionals do there logos and other art/images in vector art. If you need examples let me know!!

Re: growing roots effect.

cool, thanks, Jacob..! And I found out the masking way is the easiest way for me to make the growing tree..! And I know it's gonna be a little bit hideous to do that with such a lot of layers...
