The swf file doesn't load properly outside flash

Hi,
I have made a game using Flash 8. The problem is that when I try to load the .swf file by opening it directly from windows explorer (and not from inside flash) almost none of the graphics is shown and all functionality is gone.

What could be wrong?

Well... seems like there is a huge gap in my flash knowledge here

I have been opening this file (in earlier versions) just clicking on it before, and it worked then (not all the times though). But maybe it was just luck..


Do I have to embedd it in a html file with javascript (or another script language), even though I won't publish it on the web? It is supposed to be opened from another application (not made in Flash).

Hmm, seems like a computer error on your system to me. I always just open up the swf files right from my desktop, and they work. The only way this might not work is if you are loading the pictures, via actionscript from the internet. Did you mean internet explorer, or windows explorer?
