Online Database Steps

Hi, Ok basically I want to setup a database online which will hold some products details for a site. I have some knowledge of Mysql and php and have developed some databases through my own computer using apache. How do I then get a database online which I can easily access and get records on my site. Is mysql the best option for an account. Some instructive steps on what do to ahieve this would be great.

Are you asking how to develop an online database or are you asking how to get a database you have already developed from your computer to a hosted position where it can be accessed online.

Your question is unclear.

Hi, both of the above really. How to first develop it then get it online.

I'm assuming you are using Windows in this answer although I believe there is a Mac version as well.

You need to download WAMP and install it on your machine. This will give you Apache, MySQL and PHP. Everything you need to develop your database and its code interface locally.

Once you have all the bugs out, you can then upload the database, etc., to your hosted site which must of course offer MySQL and PHP.

There are tools that can help you with both setting up the database and transferring it.

Personally, I would use nothing else other than SQLyog - it's brilliant.
