how do i link a login section to a database file

i just set up a web page for users to login and a seperate page to register could anyone tell me how do i get the data to be saved into the database(.db) file

What you need to do is process the registration page data, server side, using something like php and store the data in a database, typically MySQL.

You then need to be able to process the login data against the stored data to check if the login is valid.

What hosting facilities do you have available to you?

There are many off the shelf open source php login and membership management scripts available from sites like sourceforge.net etc. You could use those as starting points.
