The new 2advanced.com V4

For those of you in the design world, I'm sure you've heard of 2advanced. Another incarnation of their site has appeared. This time it was heavily publised with a launch party and a count down online to the "big event" that there couldn't have ever been enough bandwidth for(!).
For those of you that haven't heard of 2advanced? They are the leading developers of flash content and can make anywhere from $50,000 a job upwards, often charging into the hundreds of thousands.

Their old site - version 3: http://www.2advanced.com/archive/v3/ was blue and was a big difference from the site before that - version 2: http://www.2advanced.com/archive/v2/ . It incorporated alot of new ideas and effects as well as some very clever graphical tricks.

The new site, in my opinion, is just more of the same. Some nice effects but nothing really new or compelling in it's own right. How far can this sort of design go? Has it reached its peak?

Version 4 http://www.2advanced.com

That is one wickedly impressive site....

Just a thought, is there going to be a website of week for flash and non-flash seperately??

I think maybe it would be a good thing, as the two cannot possibly compete!!!

The water effect was done in a 3D program and edited as still frames which have just been keyframed in flash... it's nothing more than a series of images. And for the time it took to download I don't really think it's worth it. Check out V3 and compare it to V2. You'll see a huge difference. Now look at V4 and ask yourself if the same jump ahead was made... Why was the site redone?

Well, as always it looks real nice, but I think that's it. I'd hardly know they build sites from looking at theirs. I never get any message about content or purpose from their sites, only something pretty to look at.
