Re: Learning PhotoShop (or similar)?

Yep.
And I forgot to say that there's also various structured college courses (if ya wanna get really serious about it) and seminars.
I haven't used any of these myself.

In the 'similar' category: ArtWeaver

and here are tutorials on the more painterly product Project Dogwaffle

notice some tutorials working with Paint Shop Pro, and the new free Bryce 5 for 3D.

Also, the pro and v2 versions:

Re: Learning PhotoShop (or similar)?

Photoshop is pretty straight forward, the tough part is learning where everything is and figuring out which of the 50 ways to do any one task is best for you. Only thing I can really suggest is 1) by a Wacom tablet 2) just play around with it. Photoshop with a pen and tablet is simply ze bestest.

A lot of those sites use a central "Spam List". I know textpattern does. The problem is sometimes you get tagged for spam even though you haven't actually done it.

Re: Learning PhotoShop (or similar)?

Ideall if you're learning photoshop you need to identify what you're going to be using it for.

If you're a web designer for example, you probably won't be using it to create adverts for print, so learning about such things while interesting, will be irrelevent to you.

Secondly, practice. Locate a design you like and try and copy it. Practice as much as you can, no amount of tutorials will help you if you're barely touching the program.

I've been using it for 6 or 7 years and I still don't know everything about it (I don't need too!)

Re: Learning PhotoShop (or similar)?

yeah, I learned it by doing photo restorations for a number of years. That is probably the best way to utilize photoshops tool set.

Yeh, if you think you've learnt everything about PhotoShop, you missed something.

Re: Learning PhotoShop (or similar)?

I am serious though, tear up a photo, scan it, and fix it. You learn to use all the tools and most importantly selections, quick masks, layer masks, color tools blah blah.. All stuff you would use in design too. Photo shop can be 100% used with the keyboard too, not of course including a pointing dvice fort he cursor but the tools etc.

Re: Learning PhotoShop (or similar)?

Yeah, that is all I see is a hyphen, the list is gone. Would either of you mind making a new list...?? Just post it in the Graphics fourm, and I will make it a sticky and lock it down.

Note: unless Sam gets to it first...lol
