Need recommendation for developing a conference planner for a client

Hi there,

I was wondering if any of you developers have come across a client who needs an online conference planner. Basically my client organizes trade shows and wants an option for the user to view the conference and make their own agenda that they can print out. I am drawing a blank for a good way to do this. I can code using XHTML/CSS/JavaScript (love JQuery)/AJAX and a little PHP and mySQL.

I was thinking about incorporating a wiki, but I want it to be a little more private and interactive than that.

Any thoughts? Any advise would be MUCH appreciated. I'm working up a bid for them and have a meeting with the client tomorrow so I want to go in there with some ideas.

You are building your own? You could adapt a pre-built one instead.

Great suggestion - I was hoping to do that instead since it saves a lot of coding. Do you have any suggestions for a pre-made conference planner? The ones I've seen in action have been developed in ColdFusion they look like they were custom built from a web firm.

Any direction would be helpful!

Hi AlexGeek,

Thanks for your assistance. I met with my client, and what we really need is for the user to register for a tradeshow and be able to pick the events that they would like to go to. For instance, they want to visit this vendors booth at this time, and it would notify of any conflicts.

My idea would be to have radio buttons for each time slot that the user could pick. Once submitted - it would go to a page that shows what the user picked and what times so they have their own conference planner. Does that make sense? Its actually pretty simple, which is why those other software options that were posted are a little too much, but I'm lost on how to do this.

Another thing that would be cool, is when the user asks to print screen, the sponsor logos show up on the printed page - my client is always thinking of revenue generators
