Re: Web Designing Program
If you are learning a simple web language like HTML or CSS avoid Dreamweaver and/or any programs with an auto complete feature.
When you are learning you want to be able to make things on any platform, not just auto complete programs. By learning on dreamweaver you train yourself to type the first few letters of what you want then pressing enter. This doesn't typically stay in your memory which means when you move across to notepad you struggle. Download notepad++ http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/about.php This colour codes your text making it easy to read yet doesn't possess an auto complete feature which means it will enhance your learning. By all means switch to dreamweaver when you gain a good knowledge of what you are programming in. Until then avoid it as you will become dependant on it to program. |

Re: Web Designing Program
Code completion is a wonderful thing although you do make a good point about learning the tags first.

what if you have to make an important immediate change to your web site/web page and you dont have dreamweaver on the computer that your at and you dont know the tags for it and how to link it and everything then what you update it on the internet everything's all messed up and it takes you a week to find out whats wrong and then you notice that you forgot to close your tags since you know that dreamweaver automaticly did it for you, you never thought to close it and what could have been done and fixed in 5 min has take you a whole week and makes you look like a retard in the mean time to those who its jst common sense to know to put the closing tags in. I dont mean to be mean but personally thats how i would view some one who asked for help with a page and you saw first thing that their tags arnt closed. Re: Web Designing Program
I never disagreed with you heh. But I do take full advantage of my code completion and I also have several custom "snippets" set with hot keys etc stored in skEdit. But then again I know the markup so... bleh. Saves me time.

Re: Web Designing Program
Scooting back to the code completion thing, I disagree about it being a bad thing. In CSS, skEdit has a code completion for it and I've actually learned a few new properties for it. It also helps with using proper values and such. If you know enough to start the code, you should be able to finish it yourself in my opinion...
