problem with IE

I am not sure of what is going on with this site I am working on. I am using Joomla for a content management system.

The div that holds the main navigation box is too bigger in IE than it is supposed to be, it is also "higher" than it should be. It would be best if you just looked.

This problem only exisits in IE up to IE 6 (it works fin in IE 7 Beta and firefox). The layout css for the template is in the html template to make it easier for you guys. I have also added a gold border around the problem area.

Any advice on what the problem might be would be greatly appriciated. I am experienced with HTML and CSS however this is my first attempt at using a content managment system.

Re: problem with IE

To be honest, the problem is the code full stop.

It is an absolute nightmare. Tables inside divs inside tables. Some css in a separate style sheet, some embedded on page.

If this is what Joomla is producing - forget it. Go back to an editor and markup your code properly by hand.

You have used proprietary style attributes and the W3C validator shows a shed load of errors.

Re: problem with IE

Yes Joomla is a bit confusing at first glance. The attachted style sheet is what the php references for modules and the like. The inline styles are directly associated with the template, which is what the problem is associated with I think.

I agree it does look pretty confuseing. But Joomla is a powerful system and shouldn't be dismissed so quickly.

Joomla is powerful but it is a monster to manage and make work for you. Is it good? Yes. Is it the best? Debatable. Depends on what you need.
