A question about widths em vs px

I am trying to make my site compatible in all browsers and am trying lo line up the form elements on my contact page.

Does anyone know the width in pixels an em is?

I need to either use ems or pixels to lay out my input boxes

Strictly speaking, there is no direct relationship between the two.

I'm also not sure why its relevant to what you are trying to do.

Yeah, ems are for font sizes, not element dimensions.

'ems' refer to the size of the letter 'M' in the font you are using (there's a similar measurement called 'exs').

As has been said, it's probably best not to use a font measurement for defining content areas.

Oh I forgot! Ems are great to use for dimensions if you really want your site to be accessible. Check out this elastic layout... Change the text size in your browser and watch the whole layout expand.

I've implemented this concept into a site before... It's such a pain sometimes, but the outcome is worth it when it's all debugged properly.
