CSS layout

Hi, I'm new to html and css and I don't want to use table for my layout and I'm wondering if I could do this in css

Yep easily done. Check the stickied threads at the top of the CSS Forum. Lots of tutorials in there.

you certainly can, check out:
Resources for learning how to use CSS for layout
as a starting point and if you run into any issues come back and we will try to help.

you can also, if you are feeling particularly lazy take a basic layout template and go from there. try: http://www.glish.com/css/
