IE5 css bodytext shows black?

Hi Guys,
Trying to get my head around this css stuff but on IE v5 my pages suck.
The style Ive applied to body text show up black. Looks fine in other browsers versions (ie IEv7 and Firefox).
Have I stuffed up already or is this an old browser issue. I think I've got the right doc type.

Thread needs moving to the CSS forum.

Its most probably an old browser issue. CSS support wasn't very good up to IE7 really.

Design first for Firefox - then tweak the CSS to work in IE7, then attmpt to tweak it for IE6. If not possible you can use IE specific stylesheets with conditional comments to override your troublesome CSS and replace it with CSS that works for those specific browsers. This may mean you have to leave out some of the mroe pretty stuff on your site and replace it with more basic stuff but at least you can get it working.

And to be honset I've stopped caring about IE5 so much. its important to design as low as IE6 but I rarely test in IE5 anymore.
