Just for style?

Can you only put style aspects of your site into a css? Or is it possible to bung more in?

I'm using the make poverty history banner on my site, on every page. Can i somehow put the code in the external css? i tried it but things went funny.

thanks in advance.

Re: Just for style?

Technically, it's possible, but it's not really an efficient way to do things in my opionion.

A good read on this exact subject is on a blog I read called QuirksMode. Check it out and see what you think.

Re: Just for style?

you can create a box float it right margin it 0 to the top and right... and then set the image as a background with repeat set to no-repeat. Just a suggestion. It would be easier if we could see your style sheet.
Adios,

Well, i'd say that the more you can stick in one css file the better. I thought the whole point of css sheets was to make it easier to make site wide changes and so users only d/load one file. And so surely it would be great to be able to put everything that is on every page of your site inside it. not just the style aspects but:

favicon, bottom menu, copyright, constant menu, make poverty history banner etc.

But evidently, you cannot do this. If you decided that you wanted to add a new section on your site you'd then have to change every single page that has your site menu on it, which is probably all of them. This is why my main menu is a swf and i'm proposing here that it's quite a good way of doing things if your site is not set in stone. And whose is? So if i want to add a section all i have to do is change one swf movie. Seems to me a way to apply the mentality of css to actual objects not just styles. People have mentioned how my swf menu is bad cos it doesn't pick up the words on search engines but these words can be put in your html description.

Here's the link to my actual style sheet:

http://www.crewsfx.com/styles.css

It's tiny cos at the mo it's just for the homepage.

All of those things you want to change are defined as content. Until CSS 3 is widely supported, it's hard/near impossible to use a style sheet to add HTML to all your pages. For that, you're better off using PHP includes.

Remember, CSS is for page style, not content.
