menus in css

hi i am designening my menus fora theme i am working on, dose it matter what size i make it, or do i have to make it a certain size? also can anyone tell me where i can get more textures and shapes for fireworks?

Menus can be any size. Whatever looks good in the design scheme.
Just be sure the text is legible.

right im back again lol, i have designed my menus but when i test them on my site they are all over the place, i have done the borders properly and the top and bottoim bars are aligned, the pattern has gone all distorted as well, are there certain patterns that will not work or will evry pattern/style work if you mess round with it?

In my experience which is somewhat limited, I've had to mess around a ton. I've spent hours on some of my menus.

What pattern are you using, could you post a pic or a link.

Some patterns don't work, some just need adjusting, some are just great straight out of the box. It depends on the image.

Are the links going to to inside? Could you maybe update that so the actual links are included in the image?

i havent got as far as the links yet, its when i slice it up and put it into my css it goes all ditorted and looks a mess on the site, my code is right because i had it hecked so its definatly the image, someone told me that the style i am using wont work, but surely it must, i just dont no how to make it work lol

It's probably a matter of playing with margins and padding.
