Div Tags Won't Style...

I have 1 Div tag that will not style. I have tried everything and It just won't do it. It is the top div tag and as you can see it is supposed to have a background-color attribute that actually works. Any help is appreciated immensly.

Thanks Guys,

Note: If I have posted this more than once plz forgive me, it timed out about 10 times and It didn't appear to be added.

Re: Div Tags Won't Style...

hmmm .... you should remove the absolute positioning ... there's no need for it here anyways.

I'm actually not sure what you are talking about ... where is the problem really? Do you have a sample of what it's suppose to look like?

You can't put an object element in a span (I don't think)

Re: Div Tags Won't Style...

I need help figuring out what you are talking about as well.
I see a few div's but then I don't really see any that have a color assigned to them except one.

Noobsmith why don't you give each <div> an ID and style the ID in css?
I've been working in XHTML/CSS since December and I'm not the most experienced by far, but I've never seen it done the way you have it.

Re: Div Tags Won't Style...

Ok, you all have lost me...
1) why not use postion: absolute I thought that is what made my content go where its supposed to.
2) See how the logo has the dark gray around it in the Top Left corner? I want this to be white, and usually I just put a background-color: #FFFFFF in a div tag and that solves my problems, but not so in this case.

Will be making a stylesheet after I get this one page setup.

Re: Div Tags Won't Style...

I can't find the div that contains that logo?????
But the div that contains the logo should have a css that says something like:
Code: Select all
#logo {
background: #FFFFFF;
}

Re: Div Tags Won't Style...

Ok well I tried the background thing and it still didn't work. So I took my div tag threw it against a wall, burnt it, Smashed it, and blasted it and now it works as if by magic! Same link you can see the effect I was after. http://www.smithsoftware.net/Mat/Css.htm . Ok I am going to take this to the style sheets and probably post later tonight the problems I am having. I talked to Rob and was told that my coding needed a LOT of work on some of my other sites as well so I am going to leave Tables (which I have been doing since day 1) and go for CSS. Karinne, I am going to need you cause I am using your resources :P.

Thanks for the help Guys, and maybe next time my code will be a lot nicer for you.
