is it all worth it??? CSS Layout

I've been trying for hours to get a 2 column layout with header and footer, where the two centered columns (nav, and maincontent) are of equal heigh, to display nicely in all browsers... I can't!! I can't find an example that works with out some sort of limiting hack that means either back ground images have to be used or one column is always the longest... etc...

This could be done in 30sec with HTML tables....

Until there is compliance within browser manufactures (which is going to be years!!!) why should I bother with CSS for layout????? why not use tables...???

discuss...

Re: is it all worth it??? CSS Layout

There is nothing to discuss ...

From my thread Resources for learning how to use CSS for layout/end discussion

Like you said, the background hack (a.k.a. Faux Columns) is the best way to get the same height.

Look at the link in the "how" section of that thread I gave you, there are quite a few examples on how to achieve the 2 column equal height layout

Re: is it all worth it??? CSS Layout

The idea behind using CSS, is that if you wish to make changes to your website layout, color themes etc. (instantly) you can without having to mod every dam html document which can take literally years depending on the size of your site. This is assuming your CSS document is external (not in your html document).

verkevinmanering69err455 : Please create your own thread in the future.

I moved the other posts in the Planning section since they had nothing to do with the subject at hand.
