is this an IE bug or have i lost the plot?

i'm steadily getting my head around CSS (or so i thought) but i've hit a wall after a few days. from trying to read around the subject there appears to be a lot of quirks and tricks to get things how one would like them and today i'm here to ask - am i going insane or is there a solution to this...

http://www.nudsville.free-online.co.uk/temp/index.htm

this is the page in question - i've stripped it down but i wouldn't be surprised if there are still redundant bits, the different color frames are the important parts.

the box that says "the problem is around here" is the part i can't figure out. if you view the page in IE there is an area i've marked in red - this is the background to the top <div> that contains the pictures.

my problem is that i don't want that part of the top <div> showing - so no red visible in IE.

everything seems to work fine in Opera and FireFox - no red bits showing.

i would greatly appreciate anyone to explain how i can make the red bit non visible in IE too. i hope this is not a bug that doesn't have a work around.

if i'm barking up the wrong tree and should be doing all this layout with tables instead then please say so...

thanks for your time.

try removing the space between the last image and the closing div tag

you might also try, setting:

#frame IMG { vertical-align: bottom; height: 155px; }

Ideally, without-tables design would be better.

yet again D3mon you have come to my rescue - you are a godsend.

i daren't even say how long i've spent trying to figure how to correct that - not a full day but it feels like it.

i removed the space after the image and bang that was it.

i don't think i'll forget that in a hurry.

thanks again D3mon - your quick reply means i'll get some sleep tonight.
