Made a mess of CSS positioning!
Hi all,
I'm very very new in CSS-P so please forgive me for what could be perceived as appalling ignorance... I've created a layout using rosanda's websolutionarchives tutorial, utilising fireworks MX. Now, what I want to do is to position the GIFs in <DIV> CSS-P tags... What I did was to make a mess out of everything! All I need is a patient CSS guru who can help me fix up a small part of the mess. Don't worry, its just a few containers. After fixing it up, I'll take a look at the code and find out where I went wrong, and what CSS property I should have used, orfailed to use. Ok; Please refer to the link below (dwCSS.zip). In it, you'll find two html files and a load of fireworks GIFs. Please fix the half-done default.asp CSS and take a look at what I want to acheive by looking at the design created using tables (layout.htm)... All I need is a 'demonstration'. All you need to do is to help fix the stuff inside "div#topcontainer". Inside this is around 4 nested <DIV> tags. The gray color ( if you look at layout.htm ) is where I would like to place content such as text, flash and ale that. I will definitely be very obliged to whoever who cares to help out. Links ----------- DwCSS.zip @ compactvision http://gwxthebest.compactvision.net/dwCSS.zip Once again, my appreciation to those who care to help this very confused CSS tyro! |

you need to use top and left, to push the div's into the correct place on the page. For example:
top:100; left:150; Hope that helps. |

Can you please tell me what to do? Should I use relative absolute or static positioning? It looks different in all three!

If you have tried all three then surely you know which one you need to use? I normally use absolute.

It means that the layout will move to the edges of the screen once the screen is resized... I've seen many sites using 'fluid' layouts and am not sure if it can be acheived using CSS?

Check out http://www.glish.com/css/
The Quick-Links to the Layouts on the top right of the page probably have what you want. If not just browse around in the site some. This page specifically http://www.glish.com/css/7.asp might be what you're asking about. |
