3 simple columns

Hi all
I'd like to know how I can position three simple div columns of differing length, to sit side-by-side underneath a banner, without using absolute positioning (which I've so far found has been the only way to get the columns to sit where I want them)

For reference, the site is http://www.usdmanciano.com (It's an Italian football club site)

The CSS I've used works more or less in ie and FF, but I'm told there are problems in opera. So I'd like to rebuild it using pucka coding.

Also, if anyone can recommend a good online resource for learning css, because the w3schools one hasn't help me resolve this problem

Thanks for any help

This one shouldn't be too hard - I'd just add the width element to your div, then just float all but the first one to the left...

I'm not sure if it'll produce what you're after, but it might!

Go to the 'sticky' at the top of the css forum and download the Templates tutorial.

This contains everything you need to get you going with a full expanation of what goes where and why. You can then adjust the layout to suit your needs.

It comes as a header, central three column section and a footer. All xhtml and css included.

Info on both fixed and fluid versions.

It works for IE6 & 7, Forefox and Opera and should also be ok in Safari and Konqueror.
