Encrypt website?
Hi, I'm back, married and well..
I have a question. A friend of mine developed a CMS, which we want to use for our customers. We just don't want our customers to alter the script, or (in worst case) sell it as their own. We were thinking of encrypting the code. Anyone any good ideas for this? (Just a copyright-notice will obviously not help)..

Re: Encrypt website?
A copyright notice "should" be all you need. If you have a good lawyer, draw a good copyright /legal doc or whatever.
CMS's like Wordpress and MoveableType, etc... aren't encoded and they are the most popular CMS's out there

I was afraid of that.
The thing is that we don't want to sell the cms, or make it public. It's exclusively for our customers. You can never trust your own customers :P

Re: Encrypt website?
Zend makes a code encrypt which should do the trick for the normal customers. Heck, they would have to know what they are doing to get around it.

And that is what well written contracts are for..... If they know you can do damage to their bottom line....

Re: Encrypt website?
I think you can do a serial number system if you involve java.
