I have quite a few client stories...

My favorite:
Wishes he could be my client: Hey, I want a website, and I'm willing to pay $600 for it.
Me: Ok, what do you have in mind.
Wishes he could be my client: I want a site like myspace but with a few more features.
Me: Ok, you did say you had a budget of $600,000 correct?
Wishes he could be my client: Umm, $600. My friend does websites and he says thats a fair price.
Me: Ok, well then your friend might be the perfect person to design this for you. Or you might like to build it yourself if your on such a limited budget. To learn more about design you can visit Webforumz.com
Wishes he could be my client: Oh, well if I get the source code for myspace can you change it for $600?
Me: "Click"

Found out this guy was wanting me to take Myspace's source code, change the look and put his name on it. And, if your the guy that did this and your a member, I hope you started from scratch, oh, and say hi

My boss just walks away from the door! I can't imagine how my life would be with our new coming boss(next year)? Hopefully, I get another job before that! I don't know why he quits! Maybe the time has come to do the right things for him...!

This was pretty much the score when my current boss realised I do web design. (Started the job in editorial.)

Boss - Can you build forums?
Me - Nah, not worth the effort, there are tons of free forums that do a better job than I could create, but I can put em together.
Boss (Looking confused) - Could you do a forum for our magazine?
Me - Yeah no problem, just tell me what boards and features you need and it shouldnt take more than a couple of days.
Boss (Looking almost angry) - What you talkin silly for?
Me - I'm not. I just need to know what you need the forum to do before I can sort it out.
Boss - Its for the magazine.
Me - Ok, so what do you want the users do be able to talk about?
Boss - (Quite red now) - I don't want anyone to talk about anything. I just want the magazine online.
Me - Then you need a website, not a forum.
Boss - Do you even know what your talking about?
Me - Yes
Boss (Talking to other colleague) - He's trying to drown me in science.
Boss (To me again) - Can you put the magazine online or what?
Me - Yes
Boss - Right then (Walks off)

Ive since built quite a few sites for the company and its clients and he still calls them all forums.

i had a customer that i designed a site for, he paid for it all, i put it online and he phoned me and said

(customer) "how do i find my website?"
(me) "go to "www.hiswebsite.com"
(customer) "where do i type that ?"
(me) " type it in your address bar "
(customer) "what address bar ?"
(me) "in Internet explorer at the top"
(customer) "k, done but i still cant see my website
(me) "well i can see it, check your Internet connection"
(customer) "how do i do that" ?

i tell him and we go through the processes

(me) "you had better check with your Internet service provider to see why you have no connection"
(customer)"how do i contact them"?
(me) "who is your provider ?"
(customer) "i don't know, you set it up"
(me) "no, i just set up your website"
(customer) "oh, urrm, where do i get the Internet from then ?"

Not a client but my mom!

1) JUSTIN! Why did you change MSN's Homepage. I liked the red background.
2) Me: Mom, type in www.webadress.com in the adress bar.
Mom: Ok. "Presses Home Page Button", "Page is MSN, Types www.webadress.com in Search bar", "Clicks on first link from search". Ok.
Me: Mom.. you have an address bar, you can simply type in websites there.
Mom: I know, but if you do it this way you can make sure its not a bad site.
Me: "shrug"
and finally the best one ever from my mom.
3) "You've got mail"
Mom: Justin, go get the mail.
Me: Uh, mail hasn't come yet. It's too early.
Mom: I was just told we got mail.
Me: (not knowing what she was talking about) goes out to the mailbox, and sure enough there was mail.
Mom: WOW I wonder how it knows.
Me: What are you talking about?
Mom: When i turned on the internet it told me we had mail.
