Quoting clients

Slightly different to the "how much to charge" thread.

how do I lay out a proper quote. Would anyone be willing to email me an example of a quotew thye have done in the past just so I can get an idea of what to inculde and how to lay it out.

Is there a specific way?

Thanks to anyone who can help. Either reply here, PM me or email me (email in signature).

Mike

Re: Quoting clients

did you get any PM's ? If so please post a reply so people know you've had some answers. cheers.
depending on your clients brief, i suggest you lay your quote out referring to lists or topics that are in the brief. clients feel reassured if they see that you've read and understood the brief, and that you haven't missed anything.
some briefs are exactly that mind you - brief! If that's the case, break down your quote essentially into the order you will do work for them.......e.g. have brainstorm or information collection discussion, develop concepts, present ideas, develop the designs, testing, uploading etc etc, and list what you expect of them (approvals, information etc). add in assumptions you have made, and what isn't included (to make sure they dont make assumptions)
As with most things, put yourself in their shoes and ask if you recieved it, would you understand what it did and did not include.
also list your charges for extras or miscellaneous.
someone will have ideas of where to find quote templates on the web though???? anyone out there??........

Sara, is this Microsoft Office the free program you mentioned in another thread yesterday? Do you like this?

It seems excellent.

No, Open Office in the open source pseudo microsoft office program. The really nifty thing is when you want to save from the word processer, you can select the fomate you want...same with the database. I rarely use microsoft office anymore and I got it free when I started my 2nd masters. I love OpenOffice
