Guestbook Spam Bots v Human Help..

I have an online guestbook that is getting occasionally plagued by poker spam.
I initially made the input form so the person inputing info had to tick a radio box to enable the submit button, but the spam bots have got round that..

Ideally I am looking to get a human verify system that will overcome these annoying bots...

I am looking for a bit of useful code that can be incorporated in the guestbook input form, so that if it is verified correct, the input form data will be sent to my guestbook database.

Any tips or solutions would be greatfully appreciated
Happy New Year folks..
andy

Re: Guestbook Spam Bots v Human Help..

So far so good
I have added this suggested image generator in my guestbook input form, but when the displayed image is entered incorrectly it still sends the data. Could the form be adapted that it will not send unless correctly entered. Also, if incorrect divert to another page
thnx andy

Re: Guestbook Spam Bots v Human Help..

Code: Select all
<%
Response.CacheControl = "no-cache"
Response.AddHeader "Pragma", "no-cache"
Response.Expires = -1
if Request.ServerVariables("REQUEST_METHOD") = "POST" then
    strCAPTCHA = Trim(Request.Form("strCAPTCHA"))
    if strCAPTCHA = Trim(Session("CAPTCHA_" & Session.SessionID)) then
'CARRY OUT YOUR FORM PROSESSING HERE
    else
'CARRY OUT PROSESSING FOR A WRONG NUMBER. POSSIBLY A REDIRECT, OR YOU COULD SHOW THE FORM AGAIN?
    end if
end if
%>
this should do the trick

Re: Guestbook Spam Bots v Human Help..

As an after thought,
I have created an initial log in form using your examples and if the number is entered correctly it does redirect to the guest book insert page. It may seem long winded, but using a simple session id variable generated from an independent database, it seems to have worked

thnx andy
