Installing IIS

Hi,

I'm very new to much of this, so please bare with me. I'm working on a site at the moment, but I would like to use ASP includes for things like the header and footer. I understand that I need to install IIS to do this, but that's all I really know about IIS. Would anybody be able to let me know how to install it, and perhaps what I have to do after I have done this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi.

First of all, you need to be running Windows 2000, or windows XP Professional (Home edition wont run IIS without lots of hacks)

You need the operating system CD.

Go into control panel then 'add remove programs'

Click on the 'add / remove windows components' option.

Select IIS (Internet Information Server) and away you go.

I guess you'll need a little more info from that point, but at least this will get it installed.

Thanks for that Rob!

I've done that successfully and have found the wwwroot folder - I think this is where I work from. One question though: Do you know what I have to do in order to view my work from that folder in my browser?

Thank you again
