its a fairly involved process so alot of people use pre-made shopping carts.... why reinvent the wheel?!?!?!

have a look at the list here (starting with all the free ones):
http://aspin.com/home/webapps/shoppi...rice&order=asc

and my personal favorite:
http://www.urlogy.com/asp/ashopkart.asp

Good luck

Ok, I don't know a great deal about ASP, but I can tell you that teaching something like this over the internet will be quite a challenge for even the most seasoned ASP coder! You will need to learn about sessions (cookies) and/or the dictionary object as they are the cornerstone of virtually every shopping cart out there.

This is going to take alot of patience!
There is a free script here:
http://www.asp101.com/samples/shopping.asp
which is well documented and includes the basics you will need to know and is well documented.

This link about session variables could also help:

I am sure my ASP coding friends will be able to give you better advice and recommend better sites, scripts and possibly books.

Perhaps the best shopping cart you will ever see is here:-

www.cactushop.com

I know these guys very well and they are totally 100% commited to this product... you get regular free upgrades in the first year and the product totally kicks ass.

Check it out.

i agree with Rob, cactushop is very very good, I regularly buy stuff from a site which uses that software and its excellent. If you have got money to spend i would choose cactushop.
