Hi Everyone,
After negative experiences with the UKWDA (Web design association) I thought it would be a good idea to set up a scheme which gives recognition to those web designers and developers who do not do it as a full time job want some recognition and a body to find other people with similar interests or have skills they require for a project, and also a recognition that they can be trusted.
I thought long and hard about what I could do and came up with a name and idea - UK Young Internet Alliance (UKYIA).

Membership Criteria:
So
Would people be interested in this scheme?
If yes please post below so i can gauge a level of interest to continue building the site.
Also, would anyone be able to code a directory based on area, with tick boxes for skills, like on UKWDA? If yes also post below.
Thanks for your time!
Christopher

- Designers or developers aged under 20
- Not designing full time
- Students??? Not sure about this one, what do people think?
- Make sure work is completed to a high standard
- Contact is kept with clients
- Finance is fair, services are provided that have been paid for, etc.

sounds like a good idea, but I think 20 as a age limit would be too young, even increasing it to 25 will hugly increase your demographic and potential income base

I'm not really sure about that, i also dont think its about the money - i thought it would be a free scheme, us youngies are skint! Lol!
As for the age, there are many designers aged 20-25 who work full time for agencies, i believe i'm not targeting these people, more the student designers/developers who may have trouble being recognised and don't want to publish their address on the likes of UKWDA. Maybe 21? |

Everyone has different skills and i think its a fantastic idea to bring these together. - Ive launched a site on the quick - http://www.vibrantcolour.co.uk/youngdesigners/ Please have a root around, and if you've decided you want to get a groovy badge, email your real name, trading name and web address to me - ukyia@vibrantcolour.co.uk You'll also be added to 'The Register' of users. |

Yes it is a great idea but can i just say, you are aiming at young design students, if you actully look at the people that go into design "any end of it" you,l notice that alot of the students are mature. I mayself am 30 and the group im with avarage between 25 - 32. Most people dont think about this sort of career till they have tryed other things.
