Serious help needed

Hi everyone.

I am pretty much a beginner in web design. I talk a course way back in college and that has bee n the last time. I am completely stuck on some problems. I am using the program NVU.

I will try to explain this.

I start a new page, and i start with 6x6 table. I merge 3rows to put an image in, then the remaining 3 with a color. When i previewthey look as if they are uniform which i want. then when i try and add something to the cell beneath it distorts my top row. How do I do it so that it stays one piece without the spacing.

I hope you can understand what I am trying to say.

Thank you

Re: Serious help needed

Hi mate, firstly it would be more helpful to give your post a more descriptive title, will get more people to help if they no the problem right away

I no you are a beginner to web design, but it sounds to me as if you are using tables for the layout of your page?

Today, this is not the way to layout your page, it is much easier in the long run to use CSS for the layout of your page, here is a good link explaining the benafits of using CSS for layout and giving you examples how to.

http://www.alistapart.com/articles/practicalcss/

There is also a good tutorial in our monthly newsletter on how to layout your page through CSS

Hope this helps mate, any problems just ask
