Replacement for Front Page

Sorry to ask such a stupid question but...

I created a website a year ago using FrontPage, part of the MS Office Suite installed on my old laptop operating with XL. The laptop went pop 6 months ago and I replaced it with a new PC with Vista and MS Office Small Business 2007, which doesn't include FrontPage. FrontPage can be bought separately for 15 pound but dont work with Vista.

The replacement is ShareSummat-or-other, also available separately but now costing a zillion pounds (Well 250plus anyway).

Thanks Bill, no wonder you get richer each day by more than I will earn in a lifetime!!

So I have three options (1) buy ShareSummat-or-other, (2) scrap my website or (3) my preference, get substitute software.

I am new to this... What would you all suggest I buy??

Re: Replacement for Front Page

You shouldn't even think of trying frontpage again.. It's the most hidious programme ever built to create websites..
Try Dreamweaver (in handcode mode!), or I used Arachnophilia for the longest time..

Re: Replacement for Front Page

The newest software from Microsoft is called Web Expression. Used in code view it is supposed to be comparable to Dreamweaver but 100 times better than Frontpage. Since you were familiar with Frontpage, you might find adjusting to Web Expression easier.

I personally use Dreamweaver and love it. :icecream:

Welshstew gave you a link to a bunch of free or low cost options that you might like!

Re: Replacement for Front Page

Thanks for your help. I think that from what you have said, I would be best advised to go for MS Web Expression. However, that's still US$299 (Ouch!!).

On their website, however, it is claimed that anyone who has (Quote) "Microsoft Office (any version)" is allowed an "upgrade" for US$99.

I have MS Office 2007 working on MS Vista and hence I should be eligible (Shouldn't I?) but I am a bit confused as I always though an "upgrade" was a modification to an existing bit of kit to enhance or improve its performance or functionality, but I dont have an existing bit of kit to edit websites as it isn't included in my office set-up.

Would an "upgrade" be of any use to me?
