Timeline difficulties

I'm a total newbie web designer trying to get my page to have an option to replace an image with another, and then replace that with another, and so on.

I'm trying to use a timeline to do so. I'm using Ap div tags, but the problem is, whenever I view them in different computers, or when the screen is not maximized the image moves to a different location in the browser.

Should I not use Ap divs? And if not what should I use?
Or should I use something other than a timeline to this?

You could use javascript (but check what happens when it's disabled). Like this:

I've never used Javascript before so where would I insert this code at?

Just to give you a better idea of what I'm trying to do.
The layers are off centered, and that's what I'm trying to fix. They are centered in Dreamweaver, however.

Oh god, now I see what you're doing.

You definitely need to stop using "AP div tags" (or absolute positioning, as we who live outside the Dreamweaver habitat call it).

Absolute positioning is a powerful tool. Do not use it unless you understand how it works; it can destroy website layouts in a heartbeat.

As for changing images, I can't imagine how you could do this without a scripting language, and javascript is the obvious choice. It's possible that Dreamweaver can manage this for you, with some bloated, hoary widget; but that dark art is beyond my comprehension.

Sadly, this means absolutely nothing. Dreamweaver's preview is useless, because nobody uses DW as a browser. Test in Firefox (or Opera, or any other good browser), and hack for IE.

Hmm.. this is what I feared.

Does anyone else know a "bloated, hoary widget" I can use in Dreamweaver for this? Otherwise I guess I'll just abandon the whole idea of switching images.

The "next" button works fine. If you want the images to cycle with javascript then I'd use code someone already made. And after a quick google search I found this.

Now this has captions as well, but you can get rid of those.
