Forums
I'm a total newb to this webdesign thing, my resorces include a server i'm renting to hosyt he site with basic admin tools and dreamweaver. A friend of mine made me a web template and told me hes to busy to managed the site. So to my question. I'm looking to put up forums on my site. I want to imbed the forums into the forums page. in a certain area i have a trasnparent red area in the center of the page and the nav bar to the right. the teplate is the same for all the pages just with various links and features. here is the site. http://thedarkprophecy.clanservers.com/index.php
you will see the transparent red area in the center. now i wanna imbed the forums right into that. ( the first page likes to a test forum.. and i don't like it. but the other pages link to the page i wanna put the forum on. ( if that makes sence ( click forum link on any page but the first one and you will see ) |

Re: Forums
I don't know much about embedding forums, I noticed most people actually just add on a php forum and its more of a stand alone forum that links back and forth to their website through the header or links, in short, I don't know jack about forums.
I however wanted to say that your post informed me there is a new UT coming and I am now interested in it, I actually use to play the original UT all the damn time, facing worlds - capture the flag, and use to dominate for a dude on a 56k, but that was a long time ago. That game is pretty fun, and I suggest your look into PHP forums, maybe you could pull one of those forums into a Div on the page using a PHP include, but I dunno, forums tend to be a little wide for the area you have. Someone else will be along who is more knowledgeable about the subject shortly, or so I assume. :P |

Re: Forums
Ok let me refraise that... I want the forums ( phpbb ) to be on the content section of my forums page so it stays true to the theme of my site

Re: Forums
If you're not up to snuff on coding, you may need professional help to get something like that integrated into your site. phpBB is a great start though, as it has a backend to edit the HTML and CSS to match your site.
You'll basically be taking the code from your current site and working it into the phpBB code. You need to know code pretty well though to do it right, so I would use the phpBB forums and learn from their tutorials and what-not to integrate it. Last edited by webzyne; Feb 17th, 2008 at 03:00. |
