Small to large images?
Hi,
I am not very 'skilled' when it comes to making websites. I can do the basics but i get stuck on some things... I was wondering if its possible to make a small image in a site, then when someone mouses over the image, it gets larger .. so like, you have a image at 100x100, then when you move your mouse over it, it goes to, say 400x400? Basicly, what i want to do is have a table, with images on the left side, and some text on the other .. but with the images getting bigger like i said above. So is this possible? Oh and also, i dont know if it matters, but my site is XHTML and CSS based... Any help would be great, thanks in advance, Dave. |

Re: Small to large images?
Yup I do this all the time with this Hover Image Gallery
CSSPlay also has a couple of features you could probably incorporate. http://cssplay.co.uk/menus/magnifier2.html http://cssplay.co.uk/menus/exploding.html |

Re: Small to large images?
Oh cool thanks, that first link is great.
-- Edit: I might be missing something here, but does it say how to get it to work? Like a guide? I now it says read the tutorial, but there is nothing helpful in there? Like i said, im only a beginner Last edited by felcon; Jul 19th, 2007 at 15:39. |

Re: Small to large images?
There is a line about 3" down that says Download here.
Click that and it will open up zip files. Save all the files in your root directory of your site. (Same place all your html files, pictures, etc are) Open all three of his pages. hover.css, ieonly.css and index.html the index. html will show you how to set up a page. It's not a step by step tutorial. |

Re: Small to large images?
It's not the easiest feature in the world to get working. On each occasion, I've had trouble. The one thing I learned is whatever you wrap the photos in should not be too narrow, or the enlarged photos won't show completely.
You need lots of room on the left and right margins. |

Thanks, i will give that a go now! It looks to be easier than the other one, but with a similar outcome.

Re: Small to large images?
Nice link monie!
That is certainly an option! That one uses Javascript which could cause some viewers who have javascript disabled to have problems viewing. The ones I submitted are all css. I do think the javascript option will be easier to implement! |
