Not bad for your first site! I was actually expecting something less pleasing.
The one thing I would say is that you should try to center the table and see what it looks like. It would be nice not to have everything hugging the left margin.

Since you are just starting out and learning, why don't you skip learning tables and move right to css and xhtml. If you are going to explore web designing as a full time thing after school or dabble in it, why not just learn it the right way or the modern way?

It's not too hard and I'm sure if you learned this in a week, you'd be able to learn css/xhtml just as quickly. There is a sticky in the css forum with a lot of info to start.

I'm not crazy about the navigation becomming a bold font on mouse over, because it moves the rest of the links. Otherwise it seems like a nice start!
