How does one make thumbnail images?
How does one make thumbnail images? Is it simply a matter of resizing them in a program like Photoshop or is there a better way of doing it?

I sometimes do it programmatically, though php/asp.net if I'm getting uploaded images (handy - cause you can also automatically add a watermark to the uploaded pics).
If I've just got a few static images, then I manually resize them... You just have to make a judgement on which is the least effort for your job.

PHP is a good way and there is also plenty of software available just for that purpose as well. If you have a Mac the ability is built into the OS via Automator, Core Image or Applescript etc... so batch processing any number of files is a snap. I use a combination of Graphic Converter and some custom Automator actions for my image workflow.
