New Adsense placement

Hi Rob,

Regarding the adsense in position 2 and 3 of each forum. Its a great idea and I bet it results in a very high CTR. Just concerned that it may not be part of the TOS, have you verified that the position is fine in the eyes of Google?

They could deem it as tricking people into clicking.

Just wondered.

Craig

Re: New Adsense placement

The ad placements are perfectly within the Google ToS and more to the point, they are not visible to fully registered members of the forum!

I am not saying that MEMBERS will always be entirely ad-free as there will almost certainly be some level of advertising - or maybe even individual forum sponsors.... however, there will always be an opt out via donation, or by reaching specific levels of activity/post counts... etc.

I dont think anyone can argue with the basic need to monetise a site as big and bandwidth hungry as webforumz, and I will try to keep them as relevant and un-obstructive to members as possible.

As of this moment in time, members are completly ad-free.... but expect this to change.... however, rest assured ads will be kept to a minimum and should not interfere with forum usage.

Re: New Adsense placement

Maybe you misunderstood me. I have no objection whatsoever to ads being on the site, its a great way to earn money from it. I was just making sure that it was within the TOS of Google. I dont want you to get banned, because if you do theres no easy way of getting back into the program.

Why dont you contact Google to ensure you are? I've seen people banned for less.

Re: New Adsense placement

Aw, and here I thought I was special. I personally like the idea of having ads for newer people to the forum. I think 200 or so posts should constitue an ad-free account, though. One thousand seems a bit high as it is.

I dont need to contact google.... the placements are used elsewhere on the web and have been verified by google staff on a site check.

The google ToS is publically viewable by all.... if you care to read it and digest it, then you would know.

Stop guessing, and start reading.

Well.... Dan is regular member and notched up 1000 posts in very little time.

Like I said, for those who dont like it, there will be a low cost 'donate' option.

Re: New Adsense placement

If I was Google, I'd nail on this!

I agree, if ads help finance the place, you should keep them. Just keep them separated.

Some of them blend in absolutely perfectly as though they were forums. I can't believe Google is overlooking this. I've yet to see anywhere a more obvious violation.

Just goes to show Googles entire thought process and TOS is a total waste. Worthless as a bag of hot steamy doodoo. If they are this blind or simply this willing to overlook violations, then why have the POS TOS to begin with.

Can people please start backing up their comments with reasons....

Please read the TOS.... then, post back here quoting exactly the section of the TOS that has been broken!

Like I said.... please read them.... digest them and then maybe you can make an informed decision about whether the ToS has been breached.

Again.... those ads are not viewable to members!

Ok, Dan you might want to read this.

http://adsense.blogspot.com/?utm_sou...fe&medium=link

I'd change it if i were you.

Just wondered why you're being so uptight and defense Rob? I simply asked if you'd verified with Google. Especially with this new adsense thing, it may definately appear to be tricking people into clicking.

Re: New Adsense placement

I often read the adsense blog....

I fail to see your point....

You are still not quoting the section I have breached....

Please state in a

the section that has been breeched with reasons.

I am not being defensive craig.... merely asking people not to jump to their own conclusions and back up what they say with knowledge...

I have read, and re-read lots of adsense conditions, studies and amendments..... I still cannot see any rule we are breaching with any certainty.
