There are tonnes of free domain hosts around but i just thought I'd post up
my personal reccomendations:

ZendURL
and
AwardSpace

ZendURL provides:

200MB of web space
No Advertisements
Has a basic, advanced and a WYSIWYG editor
Lets you script in CGI, Perl, PHP and SSI
Gives you a collection of pre-scripts (like counters and guestbooks)
Top level domain (eg. www.yourdomain.ZendURL.com)
POP3 email
MySQL databases
addon domains
Custom error pages

I'm not a big fan either but sometimes you need a place to test your material and get others to have a look - free hosting is that opportunity.

microsoft are offering free web sites and domains without the the site prefix on the address www.example.microsoft.com but your own domain name free i couldnt get it to work for me maybe they where still building the server www.microsoft.com

Ahhh...we are back on topic I see....I find free hosts horrible...but if you insist I would recommend geocities.com!!

Yeah, but you use what ya gotta use...I offer free hosting to active members on webforumz, they just have to buy there domain, and I will hook them up with an ad free website!!

Ryan...you need to change hosts to site5.com!! I recently changed to them, all support requests answered within 5 min. Also they seem to be friendly, and what not with loads of space and bandwidth...check them out!!
