How do I get a larger avatar? Everytime I try to upload one or link to one, It gets shrunken down to 60x60. I'm so proud of my most recent vector creation, though

Re: Avatar

Ugh, my server hiccups way two much. When my two-year contract runs out, I'm switching hosts. I can't stand that stupid "Can't connect to server" message.

Re: Avatar

Right now, http://websitesource.com/

They're okay, but my private server goes offline for about 5 minutes every day. It was the best deal I could find a year and a half ago, but I want to switch to Spry. 83 bucks a month for all that! Good god, I wish they would've had that plan a while ago.

I haven't looked around in a while, anyone know of better large traffic hosting than Spry?

Re: Avatar

Does anyone know of a way to convert Photoshop shapes into Illustrator vector files? The image I linked to above is entirely vector in Photoshop, but when I try to export or save as another file type (or open the PSD in Illustrator) there's always a visual problem with it.

I really want to get past this, so if anyone has any ideas...

Re: Avatar

You may want to look at Dreamhost. I only pay $9.95 a month.

Dream Host is killing me lately, constant down time, slow network, and a million other problems. I can not wait for my contract to be up!

Hmm I have had no trouble with them at all. You must be on a wacky server.

Re: Avatar

Their whole system is a mess, they claim it is getting better, but in my opinion it is getting worse. I have three accounts on three different servers and they all have problems.

I like hostgator.com. Website is always up, and if it goes down...I don't have to pay that month. Great company!! Not too much disk space and bandwidth...but other than that they are great!!

Re: Avatar

I wish I could use DreamHost, but I need a reseller program that allows me to give limited access to clients' domain settings like email, subdomains, FTP, statistics, etc. Does DreamHost do that?

Re: Avatar

Yeah dreamhost does that. You can set up user accounts, specify PHP 4 or 5, enable or disable FTP, SSH etc... And you can make e-mail accounts per domain, restrict disk usage, bandwidth etc.. I host 4 or so friends of mine under my dreamhost account each with their own stuff.

Re: Avatar

Sold!

When my time runs up with websitesource.com, I can't wait to migrate over. Websitesource uses a Plesk 7 control panel, it is the most miserable excuse of a control panel. And I still can't pull the emphasis off.

Re: Avatar

Yeah, I've only used a demo of cPanel, and I can already tell it's 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better than plesk.

Re: Avatar

Yeah, I used the demo of plesk, and I just hated waiting for it to load and did not seem to have as many features. But I was not sure wither they had something disabled. I think cpanel & WHM all the way man!! They are great!!

Re: Avatar

Plesk is so confusing. It takes ages to get anywhere in the program. You have to confirm things 2-3 times usually and it uses FRAMES!

His company he goes with is dedicated box tho with 7 seperate IP's, yours is managed shared hosting like my company, which is fine really, we get more bandwidth, way more haha and it costs 1/10th of the price on average, if you got a good company with shared host you get browser downloads of like 800kb/sec on 8MB connections, pretty sweet.

Im with 1&1 hosting, only issue is you need to be North american situated (i have a silent partner! weeee), its 14$/month U.S for 5 free domain names, 2500Gig traffic, 250gig space. the cpanel owns, if you ever feel compelled to join this company do it using my affiliate link though! http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=11476183
