Personally I wouldn't centre the text in the menu items or worry about centring the whole menu strip.

People expect horizontal menus to run from left to right and a space on the right-hand side is perfectly acceptable.

With your menu items, if you pad the links equally left and right, then they will space themselves according to the length of the link text and will look just fine.
