friendly suggestion from the new guy...

Hi. I know I'm new here. but wanted to suggest a place for people to post
their 'works in progress' maybe?
I made a simple test program that isn't classified as a game or anything and didn't know where to post it .
just a thought

It's an idea, but if your program was made using a language that has it's own category in this forum, you could post it there.

Re: friendly suggestion from the new guy...

Yeah, my bad. I should have told you that one. But personally I still think it would be nice for 'work in progress' to have there own forum. That way you don't see posts in the website critique forum saying, I am almost finished, tell me what you think. They could post it there instead. I LIKE IT!!

Code: Select all
I used flash 5 to make an html version, and a stand alone exe file.
That's odd.

Anyone considering testing this .exe file should, of course, be aware they can spread viruses and ensure their system has adequate security and relevant updates.

Re: friendly suggestion from the new guy...

Can I lay down some ground rules as I think they should stand (from a common sense point of view)

I dont think we need a new forum for this to be honest. Posts of this nature albeit common are as you say regarding unfinished 'stuff'. The 'stuff' is unfinished for a reason. People generally want feedback, problems solved or advice so they can progress.

The 'stuff' will generally fall under the category of flash, html, graphics or some other category that already has a dedicated forum.

With that in mind, I would suggest and indeed recommend posts of this nature be directed to the relevant forum dealing with the main technology involved in said 'stuff'.

If the 'stuff' is not already covered by an existing forum, then frankly guys you can just 'stuff' off (no seriously, you can request a new forum be created).

Hope this helps portray the situation in a more formal light.
