Re: website problem

They were pretty much right.

You are looking for someone to fix the thing for you.

Learn to code to current standards.

Do not use tables as a layout tool. That's what <div>'s are for.

All css should be in its own file unless on page or inline absolutely necessary.

Do not use propriatry attributes and values. Stick to the cross browser standards.

Do some reading up on (x)html and css. Either good books or online tutorials.

When you have done all that and are still genuinely stuck on an issue, then ask for help.

Re: website problem

It does seem a little like you're trying to run before you can walk.

Don't worry, I was and still am learning to walk!!

Basically you need to learn how to do the coding from basics or atleast try and use some of the hundreds of online tutorials to understand what it going on behind the scenes of the template.

Best place to start is http://www.w3schools.com/

by starting to look at these, you'll start to get the gist of what people on here are saying.

Re: website problem

yeah, start with the html and css, when you feel like you've got the hang of it, go onto xhtml (really similar to html but with stricter rules)

Re: website problem

Because frontpage is pure evil and belongs in the recycle bin. Also you should understand how it all works, why it all works, and how to make it all work without the aid of an evil thing like frontpage. Did I mention front page is evil?

Re: website problem

Frontpage requires specific extensions which must be installed on the server for a lot of its stuff. These extensions render many other things useless which is probably your "compatibility" issue. This is why hosts have to have sep servers etc for front page users. You would be better off with notepad. learn the basics, do some reading and of course there are plenty of tutorials and training elemnts available at www.w3c.org.

Re: website problem

Having never used frontpage nor cared to really learn about it I am not sure, from what I do know is that it has to have certain things installed on the server for certain things to work. My suggestion is to avoid front page, find a web host that has PHP, MySQL, FTP etc.. and go with that. Frontpage will do nothing but teach you bad habits and make life more miserable as your web design skills evolve. or prevent them from moving forward at all.

This is not intended to be mean or insulting, just a little push to get you on the right track.
