Some basic flash help please?
Hey
I've never really used flash much before, and I searched through some tutorials but I couldnt find the type of type of thing I wa slooking for. Pretty much what Im trying to do is creative a 550 x 400 flash, were, very simply, oneimage is shown, then it fades to another image, then to antoher; repeat. I can create the images in photoshop easy, its just getting the fade ffect in flash. Thanks PS. If it can be done in GIF form, in imageready for example, please tell me how |

Re: Some basic flash help please?
Ok Ok,
<editted out what this post originally was> Its not very smooth in imageready, and thats with only 5% decresements in opacity each frame. Would it be smoother in flash? I'm basicly trying to create a simply intro, but all I need to know is how to fade from image to image and Ill be set Last edited by atlaskid; Aug 3rd, 2006 at 20:24. |

Re: Some basic flash help please?
I find Flash much smoother for this kind of thing.
The down side is that as soon as you even start to open Flash, you have a HUGE file for visitors to download. In order to keep them waiting around for your Flash intro to download, your site has to have A) Something they want and, B) Their interest. If you're missing either one, you've lost a visitor; People won't hang around to watch your beautiful intro, no matter how good you think it is. If you don't have these pre-requisites, you can try to distract them by coming up with an interesting pre-loader which is a much smaller file and displays while they're waiting for the real file to download in the background. The same applies though; and they will leave if you lose their interest. |

Re: Some basic flash help please?
Mmm.. I'm stuck on what to do. By into all I meant was for a few images to be displayed and then the logo of the company, would that still create a huge file? I though .swf's were relatively small files usually?
I'm not sure wether to have the intro or simply an image and text etc. I dont think it would look nearly as professional as a flash would. Say all I put in is about 3 or 4 images into the flash, would it still be a big file? I've never used flash before, so mabye its the technique that makes the file big I'm not sure Thanks |

Re: Some basic flash help please?
you can get the banner down to an acceptable size. bitmaps make it more difficult depending on which ones you use. flash is a vector tool, primarily. you need to optimize the images b4 you put em in your movie and then play with the settings on export. i have made banners as small as 12k. i find that fireworks is a life saver when it comes to compression.
as far as your animation goes, the tutorials provided in the app on tweening should do it for you. your just tweening an alpha channel. dont loop this thing. ~Pxl |
