Re: Bluleb.com (again)

Ahhh, welcome back robert. Long time, no argue. lol

Your site's not bad. The colours are pleasing on the eye and it all sits nicely in the page.

These are the things that are wrong with it:
  • Your text (pretty much all of it) is very low contrast and difficult to read. Especially the light grey text in the bottom right and your section headings (News, Best of the web etc...)
  • Those Icon like navigation buttons are cool and look really polished but they are too close together. A good rule of thumb is to say if you have something increase in size on roll-over, make sure it doesn't affect the position of any other element. At the moment if you hover over news, lebdir, polls or blogs, it shifts the other icons to the side.
  • That search bar is a little too long. you ought to make it so that it sits up in a corner and doesn't span the width of the page.
  • You are using a tables based layout. this leads to you having bloated code. Semantic markup with CSS could dramatically reduce your page sizes.
Other than these I can't really find any fault with it. It looks nice and obviously serves a purpose.

Re: Bluleb.com (again)

1. Yes, please increase contrast between the text and the background, really by quite a bit. You don't want to do all that work and have nobody read your website because they have trouble reading the words.

2. I appreciate minute's comments and they have validity, but I actually think the searchbar and buttons are okay. The buttons break a major rule by displacing things, but I think they are quite funny and I like them.

3. Don't start a site in light blue, orange and white. This is a fashion that is going to look old-fashioned in six months.

Re: Bluleb.com (again)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the useful comments. About the buttons, I don't see any displacement (using IE, FF, Opera). One button just gets bigger when you hover over it. As for the colors, I always thought there was something wrong with the contrast. I'll see what to do about it... I'm sure I'll be switching to full CSS in a couple of weeks.

Robert

The home button doesn't move anything but if you hover over any of the others it shifts the preceding ones to the left.

Re: Bluleb.com (again)

Hi,

Oh yeah, now I see it... But it doesn't really matter, right? It's still gentle on the eyes.
