It's official.. webforumz is unuseable in IE.

Yes, I am an IE user. Don't know why, don't care why.. it's just my choice.. so nah nah nah.

This site is unuseable in IE anymore. It crashes randomly, pauses randomly, won't scroll worth a piss and the entire experience is just plain horrible. There is another site I visit with similiar issues in IE. Luckily I have Firefox and can browse both sites fine, but this doesn't solve webforumz end of the issue. And it certaintly doesn't help other visitors who aren't using Firefox.

Anyway, just thought I would let you guys know, in case you care.

Re: It's official.. webforumz is unuseable in IE.

This is the main reason I switched to FF. Which is kinda bad for the site.
The site always screwed up in I.E, whether it be slow to load, jerky, are just making my comp crash?? I have no idea what causes it, but now in FF, it seems fine. Perhaps its the forum software, whatever it is its not good and doesnt represent the quality that wfz should give off.
Not good for people that may visit this site as I.E is still used by 75% of the population

Re: It's official.. webforumz is unuseable in IE.

I'm guessing the insane overuse of google adds is partly to blame.

Re: It's official.. webforumz is unuseable in IE.

In case it helps, I use IE and have found that the only way I can navigate much of the site is to close IE and then re-open it, navigating to the spot I want.
Otherwise, it just freezes.

Pity coz W3S still has 2/3 of users recording hits using IE and all the rest make up the last 1/3 up to March this year.

I did try FF but I still don't like it.
Now I use Maxthon, which is built on the IE engine and a kind of cross between it and Firefox.
It is one of the least known browsers.

Is this still an issue?

I've rolled the forum up to the latest version today.

Re: It's official.. webforumz is unuseable in IE.

I did notice some improvement immediately after posting actually, Rob.
But it only lasted a while;
If I'm surfing the site and I use my browser back button, everything slows right down, eventually it goes to a blank page, then it just hangs.
Only way out for me is to close it and open a fresh browser.
I notice it at other times but that one seems to be 100% every time I try it.

I think I'll investigate re-skinning the site.... I'm almost sure that will cure it.

Re: It's official.. webforumz is unuseable in IE.

Matter of interest, I wondered if it might have been the ad's so I checked the link and went to the Google link direct but that comes up immediately, so I don't think it's anything to do with them.

[edit: IE just crashed altogether, so I don't think it's fixed yet. lol]

Re: It's official.. webforumz is unuseable in IE.

I hope this isn't just me now, coz it's still happening and, if it is just me, may mean that I may haffta fix something in ma baby.
Can't use the back button at all (just locks the browser) and sometimes it crashes altogether.
Still very slow to load pages (I'm only on 1Mb cable but still slow).
Seems to load a page and then load several more things before I can do anything with it.
Of all the forums I belong to, it happens on this one and one other (though not as badly on the other).

Try upgrading to the new IE see if that changed anything.

Ahh, I'm avoiding that just for the moment. We've been discussing (and having a giggle about) the IE7 beta's shortcomings on another forum I belong to.
I stick with IE6 and Maxthon for the time being.

No worries Rob.
Not complaining, more a sort of mention just in case.

Re: It's official.. webforumz is unuseable in IE.

This issue is now being treated as an A1 priority concern having replicated it to the nth degree.

Please bear with me as I comprehend and embark upon the sheer amount of work involved in re-skinning this site.

Re: It's official.. webforumz is unuseable in IE.

I like it.
Hasn't crashed my browser;
Things seem much quicker to navigate;
I can use my back button again.

'Course, it could have been much cuter with
